A simple technique that can push you to a new level. It's called a Thinking Place.
A simple technique that can push you to a new level.
It’s called a Thinking Place.
The idea is to visit some place you enjoy once a month (or even more often) and spend 60 minutes reflecting on and analysing your life.
It could be your favourite restaurant or a co-working space. Where exactly doesn’t matter much — what matters is that you feel comfortable there.
A place like this is great for working through strategy. You can ask yourself hard questions and look for answers. Everyone’s list will be unique, but here are a few I sometimes ask myself:
- Do I actually like what I’m doing?
- What opportunities and resources around me am I ignoring?
- Which of my thinking patterns is costing me?
- What do I consider my strength that might actually be a weakness hurting me?
- Am I happy?
- What single action (one direction) could push me to a new level?
- If I couldn’t do this work myself, how would I organise the process?
- Am I trying to focus on too many things at once?
You might be surprised how many insights and good ideas show up after just one hour of this kind of reflection.
And once you start writing your thoughts down on paper, you immediately start seeing connections and finding original solutions to your current problems.
Do you set aside time in your life for strategy and reflection like this?
