I wrote out my big life goals — 11 of them. Here's the list, and why having a vision of the future makes it easier to walk through a hard present.
A person’s goals and vision are what take them to the next level.
Today I spent some time working on my big goals and plans for life.
Here’s an incomplete, generalised list:
- A happy family
- A beautiful, healthy body
- Renovate my parents’ place (right now they’re not thrilled about the idea)
- A two-storey apartment with a view, on a high floor
- A big private house: with a well, solar panels, a pool, a spa, a basketball hoop, a garden
- An audience of 10,000,000 people on social media
- 15 books written and selling
- Hosting a big offline event every quarter, in a venue on the scale of the Olympiyskiy Stadium in Kyiv
- The New Lifestyle education platform and a very tight-knit community of people around the idea of quality self-education
- The IWANT online store, with genuinely good customer service
- Travel: the chance to visit 50 countries
That’s far from everything, but these are the main things I think about and enjoy working toward.
I’m already working on some of the items on this list.
I’m well aware that for these things to become available to me, I need to become a different person. A better version of myself, so to speak. Master the necessary skills, build new habits, change certain traits in my character, let new beliefs into my head.
The version of me that exists right now is only capable of generating my current results. Nothing more. If I want different results, then I have to change too.
I also think that when we have goals and a vision for the future, it’s much easier to handle the challenges and problems that show up in our life right now.
The idea of a better future helps a person walk through a bleak present.
On top of that, when you have the right goals, they can give you extra energy and motivation every single day.
When you work to pay the bills and simply get by, that’s one level of motivation. When every hryvnia you earn brings the future you actually want a little closer, that’s a completely different level of motivation and inspiration.
That’s why I believe setting and achieving goals is a very important practice — it takes us and our lives to the next stage of development.
I know perfectly well that a lot of people right now deliberately try not to plan anything, because reality is too complicated and unpredictable. Still, I believe that even when we live in total uncertainty and chaos, a clear vision of a better future is simply essential.
Do you set any long-term goals for yourself? Would it be interesting for you if I showed you from the inside how I move toward mine?
