Wanting things and setting goals for yourself is an absolute game changer. Nobody else is going to want things or strive for anything on your behalf.
How do you make your life significantly better?
There’s one skill that’s an absolute game changer in our lives: the ability to want things and set goals for yourself.
Nobody else is going to want things or strive for anything on your behalf. And if you don’t do it yourself, you end up in a situation where the same circumstances keep you stuck in place, and you just go in circles.
Right now, a lot of people ban themselves from having any wishes or goals at all, because they don’t want to face disappointment in the future if they don’t achieve them.
Some people think it’s “not the time” for plans or goals, and that you should just live day to day.
Meanwhile, we’re all still living our lives regardless — and that life can either make us happy or bring us disappointment and misery.
Personally, I believe it’s always the right time to set goals, to plan, and to grow.
Nobody’s going to give us back the years of our life that we ourselves chose to spend standing still and doing nothing.
Time is an opponent that doesn’t forgive indecision.
I’ve been setting goals for myself since I was 17, and over the last 15 years I’ve built an entire system for achieving what I set out to do. It’s not some magic formula — it’s a very practical, applied technique that requires effort and discipline from every person.
But the result of taking that kind of action is that people gradually start to genuinely like their life, because they feel progress in it and get closer to what they actually want.
The ability to set and achieve goals is a skill that outweighs every other skill combined. It’s what lets us get what we want and plan our lives systematically.
It doesn’t matter what specific goal you’re working toward — losing weight, fixing a relationship with someone you love, starting a business, or growing a volunteer movement. Once you understand the technique for achieving goals, a huge number of interesting and different opportunities open up. And the best part is that freedom of choice appears too. We can become who we want to become and get from life what actually interests us.
