We earn as much as we are useful to other people. And the level of that usefulness is influenced by us alone — not by an employer and not by circumstances.
In a great many families, conflicts happen precisely around the topic of finances. Sometimes the reason is using money unwisely, and sometimes it’s that there simply isn’t enough of it.
To significantly increase your income, you need to be able to influence it. If you work somewhere for a fixed salary, try to move closer to the money and to directly affect the end result. Then it makes sense to talk about a percentage of the profit or some form of performance-based pay.
Once you can influence your income, the main principle goes like this: “Money is honest, fair feedback from the market in exchange for the value we bring.”
I know that sounds a bit complicated, so in even simpler words: we earn as much money as we are useful to other people.
The good news is that we ourselves are the ones who influence how useful we are to others. Not our employer, not a business partner, not our parents, not the person we love, not the president — nobody at all can affect the level of our usefulness to others.
We are 100% responsible for where and how our attention is directed.
We make that choice every single day. Either learn a new useful skill or sit on social media. Either get better at selling or watch Netflix. Either study English or scroll YouTube aimlessly. Either create content or simply watch other people’s lives.
The life we’ll be living a few years from now depends on the choice we make each day. So to significantly increase your income, you have to start investing far more in yourself and working on your value to clients and to the market.
It never happens that we’re worth 50,000 UAH to the market and receive 5,000.
That’s why the key to increasing income is systematic, deep work on yourself.
Do you agree with the idea that we earn from the market exactly as much value as we bring to other people?
