While one person thinks and plans, another has already tried 5 approaches, found what works and moved to the next level. In every area of life, speed matters most.
At some point I heard the phrase that the most important thing for great results in life is speed.
Speed in every area
In a relationship with your partner — the faster we learn to listen, understand and actually meet our other half’s needs, the happier the couple will be.
In our work — the speed of good decisions and our ability to test new ideas quickly determines our income.
In personal growth — the faster we absorb and apply new knowledge and tools, the better our quality of life becomes.
Speed is critical in every area of life.
While one is thinking — the other has done it
While one person is thinking and planning, another has already tried 5 different approaches, figured out what doesn’t work, found the solution and implemented it. Moved to “the next level of the game” and is already looking for new answers there.
Why learning only from your own experience is slow and expensive
Back when I was around 20 I realised that learning only from personal experience is very slow and very costly.
You keep walking into the same rakes, keep hitting your forehead, painfully absorbing life’s lessons one at a time.
Everything changed for me when I started actively developing: reading books, watching educational seminars, buying courses, looking for mentors and taking consultations with them.
At the time I was struck by the idea that in a few hours (or days) you can absorb the concentrated experience of another person that they built over years.
It turned out you don’t have to make every mistake yourself. You can get the result you want much faster if you act wisely from the start, using other people’s tools and experience.
What it gave me personally
Studying financial literacy made it easier to earn, save and invest.
Diving into the topic of relationships between men and women eventually allowed me to build a happy marriage.
Studying psychology and emotional intelligence helped me hear and understand myself better and treat myself like a friend, instead of blaming and scolding myself for mistakes.
How I do it today
Now, whenever I want a result in a new area, I look for a guide into that topic. I do it because I know: using someone else’s experience and tools, I’ll reach the goal tens of times faster and easier.
If this approach resonates with you and there are areas of your life that need serious improvement — the smartest move is to find someone who has already walked that path and learn from them.
