The Event That Changed the World

For some, Christmas is a family dinner or a couple of days off. For me it is a symbol of God's love for people and the event that changed all of history.

For some people, Christmas is a good family holiday. A reason to gather around a big table with plenty of good food and warm conversation.

For others, Christmas is just another holiday and a few days off during the year.

And for some, it is a reason to go to church once a year and have food blessed, so the day can start with blessed kutia or eggs.

For me personally, Christmas is a symbol of God’s love for people. The birth of Jesus Christ two thousand years ago is the event that changed the entire course of our history.

The Son of God comes into this world so that you and I would not have to pay for all our mistakes on our own. He says: “I already love you exactly as you are! I need you, so I will pay for you and for your mistakes myself.”

God gives every one of us complete free will. He forces no one to believe in Him and imposes Christianity on no one. He gives everyone the right to choose what and whom to believe in.

For some people, the birth, life and death of Jesus Christ is nothing but a ghostly myth, an interesting story with no connection to a person’s present life and problems.

For me, Jesus Christ is the path I walk. These are the most important relationships in my life. He is the source of living water — once you have tasted it, you no longer need any other water.

If you have never invited God into your life and have always been very cautious about any religious ideas, you can try taking the first step in that direction yourself, to see for yourself what I am talking about.

My own Christian path once began with a simple prayer. You can try turning to God in your own words and telling Him what is on your heart right now. Ask Him about the things that trouble you today. Start that conversation. All it takes is a couple of minutes, silence and a sincere desire.

And who knows — maybe your life will change radically too, and you will become a very happy person, realising the boundless power of His love for you.
