A Day of Doing Nothing

A Day of Doing Nothing

For the first time in many months I let myself do absolutely nothing for a whole day. It turns out that doing nothing is a serious step outside my comfort zone.

Today I gave myself a day off.

For the first time in many months of work I allowed myself to do nothing all day and just lie around: Nastya and I watched YouTube and a new series, and simply talked.

We ordered food from McDonald’s.

Spending time this way feels unfamiliar to me, but I understand that at this stage of life I simply have to learn how to rest.

As strange as it sounds, doing nothing useful is a serious step outside my comfort zone.

I did, of course, open the laptop for 30 minutes to write this post and answer a few messages — but with that, my work for today is officially over.

Reading helps, but what changes a life is specific steps, not reading. Fifty minutes of conversation is usually enough to see which steps are yours.
