250 days of writing and publishing every day

A habit doesn't form in 21 days — it takes about six months. After 250 days of daily posts I've seen it on myself.

250 days of writing text posts and publishing them every single day.

They say a new habit forms in 21 days. I don’t think that’s quite true. Three weeks can soften your resistance to a new action a little, but that’s only the beginning.

A genuinely new line of behaviour settles in after roughly six months. That’s how long the brain needs to build a new neural route. Once the habit is formed, going back to the old pattern becomes harder than carrying on the new way.

I think the habit of writing to my blog every day has taken hold.

I notice that my brain now looks for interesting thoughts and events in every day by itself — material that could become the basis for the daily post.

There’s a saying: a habit is either the best of servants or the worst of masters.

I really do think our lives depend enormously on which habits we manage to build.

Most people go through life as consumers. I’m not saying that’s bad — I’m a consumer in plenty of areas myself. But I also believe that in the directions that matter to us, we need to develop the position of an author.

For me the author’s position isn’t only about creating content. It’s about taking responsibility and working with reality as it actually is. An author is someone who doesn’t hide from problems but starts solving them one by one.

The more time we spend in the author’s position, the better and more interesting our life becomes.
