Do You Know How to Rest?

Do You Know How to Rest?

Lying by a pool for a couple of hours without thinking about work is still outside my comfort zone. On why resting is a skill you have to learn too.

We gave ourselves a day off.

For me that’s still an event and a step outside my comfort zone.

When you don’t know how to properly rest and think about work all the time, even lying by the pool for a couple of hours and switching off is already an achievement of sorts.

I understand that most people rest calmly and normally every Saturday and Sunday, but it doesn’t work that way for me.

For me, learning to rest is like learning English or going to the gym regularly is for someone else.

Today Nastya and I drove out to Yasnohorodka, a village about thirty minutes from Kyiv. Good service, great pools, tasty food.

A staff member came over and asked how much we were enjoying it and what was missing. It was the first time in my life I heard genuinely good questions in a survey like that.

Do you know how to rest? Can you switch off from gloomy or work thoughts and give your head a break for at least a couple of hours? What is the best kind of rest for you?

Reading helps, but what changes a life is specific steps, not reading. Fifty minutes of conversation is usually enough to see which steps are yours.
