Five minutes on your phone right after waking up can ruin the next twelve hours. I've tested this on myself.
“If you begin the day with intention, you’ll probably end it the same way”
I read that thought in a book once, and I keep confirming how true it is.
I have days when the first thing I do after waking up is reach for my phone and dive into the digital world:
- reply to someone’s DMs
- watch someone’s stories
- read comments
- scroll reels
I don’t do it for long — literally 5-10 minutes — but that’s often enough for the day to start off badly.
The moment my brain plugs into the digital world, my focus and attention start scattering, and the next 10-12 hours no longer go as effectively as they could have.
In 80% of cases when I wake up, I manage to stick to my morning routine and keep my hands off gadgets for the first few hours.
Then, with a clear head, I:
- Read books
- Do exercises
- Pray
- Read the Bible
- Plan my day
- Take a cold shower
- Spend time with Nastya
I consider the start of the day very important. It sets the emotional tone for everything that follows.
When a day begins with small wins — a made bed, vitamins taken, moisturizer on your face — every later (and harder) task gets much easier, because the flywheel of positive actions is already spinning.
Do you manage to do what you want in the morning? What does your morning routine look like?
