Why Are So Many People Passive?

Why Are So Many People Passive?

A small problem left alone becomes a medium one, then a large one. Why passivity is so expensive, and what you can do instead.

Why does life get harder over the years for so many people?

I think passivity is one of the main reasons. Passivity is often the consequence of neglect and of simply not knowing.

When people run into difficult problems, instead of starting to understand and solve them, they just hide from reality.

Some use computer games for that, some get lost scrolling social media, some drown the pain in alcohol.

When we don’t solve a small problem, it becomes a medium one, and then a large one. And by the time we’re looking a large problem in the eye, fear starts to grip us.

People are often afraid of the future, yet do almost nothing in the present to change the circumstances they’re unhappy with.

And then the problem — already large — knocks on our door again, but now with very high interest charged for our passivity and for not knowing how to solve it.

On the other hand, nothing is stopping us from shaking off that paralysis and starting to work with reality as it actually is.

From starting to search online, watch videos on YouTube, and learn from the experience of other people who have already dealt with similar circumstances.

That can feel frightening and difficult in the moment too, but strategically it’s a very wise decision.

Passivity costs a great deal. Because you end up living a life where you constantly have to adapt to circumstances that keep getting worse.

Seen that way, it’s far better to roll up your sleeves and take on the questions that are open right now and that are bothering you.

Are there problems in your life that you’re avoiding? I can find a few such areas in mine…
