The 52–17 principle: 52 minutes of focused work, then 17 minutes of real rest. A week of testing showed my attention lasts far longer this way.
I recently heard about the “52–17” principle. It’s when you work on a task with full focus for 52 minutes and then give yourself 17 minutes of proper rest. It can be a short walk, YouTube, scrolling social media, a coffee — anything.
I’ve been trying these pauses for about a week now, and I can see that it really works well. My attention lasts far longer than when I work for 2–3 hours straight without lifting my head.
Even on demanding days like today, I still practise “52–17” — and today we’re launching our course “Your Own Lie Detector”, with hundreds of live conversations going on.
By the way, right now I’m learning to set up targeted advertising myself (under Bohdan’s careful guidance). It’s not a complicated process, but there are still a lot of sensitive details in it.
And do you rest at all during your working day? Do you take short breaks? How do you restore your resources?
It is rarely a lack of knowledge
Income runs into thinking and habits, not information. In a session we work out what is actually holding you back and what to do about it in the coming weeks.
