Bloodwork, food, movement, sleep and the quiet killers of your resource — 7 places to start when you have nothing left in the tank.
Here is how you can restore your resource when you have no strength or energy left.
1. You can get bloodwork done and consult a doctor. Sometimes the cause of feeling unwell is a shortage of some vitamin or mineral.
2. Our energy depends directly on what we eat. The “heavier” the food, the more resource the body spends digesting it. So the better we watch the quality of our food and the time we eat it, the more grateful the body is.
3. Our energy depends directly on how much movement there is in our life. The more we walk, run, play sport, do exercises at home, the more actively blood circulates and the better our cells receive all the nutrients and oxygen they need.
A healthy cell → healthy tissue → a healthy organ → a healthy organ system → a healthy person.
4. We often drain our energy into things we can’t control: we worry about other people’s fate, we try to change the person we love, our parents or our children. We burn an enormous amount of nerves on things that lie outside our real influence.
The moment a person starts dealing with the things they genuinely can change, stress drops sharply and a sense of control and clarity comes back.
5. There are quiet “killers” of our energy:
- Aimless scrolling through social media
- Video games
- Pornography
- Stimulants of all kinds (energy drinks and coffee among them)
- Alcohol and cigarettes
The more of these habits there are in your life, the lower the wave you’ll be moving on.
6. Nothing restores our resource better than good sleep. So it’s worth making sure the room is aired out (we sleep with the window slightly open, for example), that the mattress and the pillow are orthopedic, and that there’s enough time for sleep.
7. There are things in our life that give us genuine pleasure:
- Time with the people we love
- Work we love
- Talking with a friend
- A good book
- A favorite film or music
- Our hobby
- A change of scenery and a micro-trip
Many of these things we don’t do simply because we never decided to. And so our body only gives energy away to tasks and obligations, without replenishing the resource through rewards and pleasures of this kind.
But if we want a high level of energy, we have to know how to reward ourselves for the effort we put in every day.
Which of these 7 points is limping in your life right now?

Reading helps, but what changes a life is specific steps, not reading. Fifty minutes of conversation is usually enough to see which steps are yours.
